About the Trainer
With more than 30 years of combined academic and senior industry experience across law, corporate governance, and pharmaceutical regulatory affairs, Tan Kong Hun has established himself as a leading authority in corporate governance, regulatory governance, and marketing governance in Malaysia. His primary research examines how state enforcement and private remedies interact to drive accountable corporate behaviour, with a current doctoral study at Veritas University College focusing on industry adherence when state regulations conflict with commercial realities. A passionate academic and practitioner, he serves as Adjunct Professor at Veritas University College and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Brickfields Asia College. He has taught extensively at postgraduate and undergraduate levels in Corporate Law, Corporate Governance, Boardroom Dynamics, M&A Law, Negotiating & Drafting Cross-Border Contracts, and related subjects. In industry, he has held senior legal leadership roles including General Counsel APAC at Comet Technologies Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Global Legal Head at Novartis Corporation Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., and Legal Director at GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Sdn. Bhd. He is a qualified Advocate & Solicitor of the Malaysian Bar (High Court of Malaya) and holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Malaya (Second Class Upper with two Book Prizes), an LLM (Major in Commercial & Corporate Law) from the University of London, an MBA from the University of Wolverhampton, and the Credential of Readiness (CoRE) from Harvard Business School Online. Tan has successfully supervised multiple master’s theses on corporate governance, sustainability reporting, and fiduciary duties, and has presented at international colloquia on the ethical perspectives of pharmaceutical marketing in Malaysia.
